May’s fans in bid to find his dad

SWAZILAND truck driver Sanele May’s supporters are busy preparing for his court appearance later this month by raising funds for his legal team and making regular prison visits.

This truck driver is facing 24 counts of murder after the truck he was driving ploughed into cars and taxis at the bottom of Field’s Hill last year.

He is currently awaiting trial in Westville Prison.

Peach Piche, the founder of the Sanele May Support Group on Facebook, said May’s supporters were trying to raise money to pay his legal team and to try to find his father.

May’s mother died when he was six years old and he never knew his father.

It is believed that his father is a South African who was working in Swaziland when he met May’s mother.

Piche said May was told his father returned to find work in South Africa and was never heard from again.

But May’s supporters are adamant that they will find him.

Piche said May had been visited in jail by the likes of PJ Powers and former Miss SA Megan Coleman.

Piche said that their intention was not to drag May’s father into the media frenzy that had surrounded the case.

But their wish is for May to see him and hopefully for May to acquire South African citizenship.

She said the money will cover investigation costs and DNA tests if and when they find him.

Peach, who paid May a visit yesterday, said he was doing fine.

“But he is a bit anxious about the upcoming court case and he is scared that it might be postponed yet again.

“He is asking a lot of questions about the case,” she said, adding that May holds prayer meetings and is encouraging other inmates to read their Bibles.

In a recent letter to his followers, May wrote: “In my life I’m still doing ok except that I’m in an enclosed place with no freedom … 2013 was a hard year with [many forms of] bad luck, [but] we must thank the Lord for 2014 [that it] will be year for us all.”
