2012-01-13 00:00

TOP ANC leaders this week visited the family of the KwaZulu-Natal-born musician who died on Saturday during the ANC’s centenary celebrations in Mangaung.

Sizanempi George Nxusa (54) collapsed and died shortly before performing at the ANC’s centenary celebrations at Mangaung Indoor Sports Complex, allegedly due to suspected heat stroke after temperatures soared to 40° Celsius.

Nxusa was the bassist for the maskandi group Ihashi Elimhlophe (White Horse).

Among the VIPs were the ANC’s Chief Whip in Parliament, Mathole Motsekga, and its national spokesperson Jackson Mthembu.

Mthembu said Nxusa’s memorial service will take place later today at Down Town Studios in Johannesburg while the funeral will take place at Mapleton Extension 10 at Ekurhuleni.

More details about the funeral will be provided at the memorial service today.
