Minolta in new premises

2010-11-03 00:00

AN eight-year-long expansion drive has resulted in the relocation of Konika Minolta to impressive new premises at Camps Drift Park.

Branch manager Jimmy Reid told The Witness that the launch of the new premises is the result of the enormous expansion of the business.

Konika Minolta South Africa has had a presence in the Pietermaritzburg area for several decades, initially as Helios and later as Minolta and then Konika Minolta.

The company’s most recent home was in Greyling Street in the CBD.

“The business has expanded enormously in terms of the number of machines serviced, the number of staff members employed, as well as the government business secured,” Reid said.

He stressed that the company is a market leader in the supply of colour machines, adding that it covers a range of office automation solutions.

The expansion has allowed the company to improve its warehousing capability. There is room for further expansion at the site.

“The site offers greater accessibility, enabling us to service Pietermaritzburg, the midlands, Greytown and Ixopo,” said Reid.

Konika Minolta in Pietermaritzburg is one of 14 branches and 42 dealers in South Africa.

A total of 32 staff members are based at the new 1 100 square-metre premises.

“The developer purpose-built the premises for us,” said Reid.

The work commenced in November 2009 and was completed in April.
