Missing: nurse believed abducted

2008-04-14 00:00

PIETERMARITZBURG police are adamant that a 37-year-old nurse, believed to have been abducted last week Tuesday, is still alive.

Although still following leads, police said their search for the woman has yet to yield any positive results.

Police spokeswoman Inspector Joey Jeevan said that Eunice Sweetness Mabuyi Buthelezi was last seen on Tuesday last week by one of her friends.

Buthelezi was boarding a taxi travelling from Elandskop to Edendale and has been missing ever since.

“On the same day at about 8 pm, it is alleged that she contacted an ex-boyfriend asking for the telephone number of a traditional healer,” she said.

Jeevan said that at the time of her disappearance, she had been wearing her white nurse’s uniform and a maroon jersey.

Buthelezi, who is originally from the Mantobela area in Wartburg, has been described as a person of average build who is light in complexion.

She has braided hair and has an “unusual” black dot on her forehead.

Police are pleading with anyone who might have information on Buthelezi’s whereabouts to contact the investigating officer, Detective Inspector Siphiwe Gwala at 033 845 2762 or 072 025 8817.
