More surprises at Michaelmas

2010-09-28 00:00

THERE were again some surprising results on the last day of the 51st Oppenheimer Michaelmas Week hosted by Maritzburg College.

Pretoria BHS, who were smashed by DHS on the third day, took their revenge on St Charles yesterday. Kearsney did likewise to St Davids after Kearsney had made the top score of the day 300 for eight, with Chad Bowes scoring the eighth ton of the Week.

Sumanth Sunkari went well for Glenwood chasing the Affies total of 194, and he finished on an undefeated 89. Glenwood were just six runs short when they lost their last wicket.

Yesterday Westville, who had disappointed on the first two days, managed an exciting two-wicket win against KES, who only managed 133 all out. Hudson Park also surprised, winning against the previously unbeaten DHS.

There were only two teams that went through unbeaten, Affies and St Johns. St John’s had someone to perform well in each match. In their first game Jeffrey Long took five wickets, Wesley Coulentianous scoring 91 not out in the second match. Jamie McGraw scored an undefeated ton in the heat on the third day and Jason Newton reached three figures in the last game, which made a total of nine centuries in the Week.

Those who lost one match were DHS, Maritzburg College against Affies, Grey College against Glenwood and St Stithians against DHS on the first day.
