Mozambique: two SA men allegedly poisoned

2011-09-22 00:00

TWO South Coast men were allegedly poisoned while on holiday in Mozambique last Saturday.

One of them, Jonathan Hansen (28) of Umtentweni, died while the other, Doug Grove (27), is still in hospital.

Details surrounding the incident are sketchy.

According to a family member, the autopsy results revealed that Hansen’s death was due to probable poisoning.

The type of poison is unknown and the family is awaiting pathology results.

Hansen and Grove were in Mozambique for a week with friends. They were due back on Saturday. One of the friends saw that both men had not woken up on Saturday morning and took them to a hospital.

A family member described Hansen as “someone who found a reason to smile, even in the worst situation”.
