Mpofana appoints new DA councillor

2014-12-12 00:00

NHLALAYENZA Ndlovu has been officially appointed as PR councillor to take the place of late Ken Denysschen by Mpofana Municipality.

Ndlovu was appointed along with the new mayor, Maurine Magubane.

Last month, DA councillor Denysschen was electrocuted while erecting posters for the by-elections in the Mpofana Municipality, where he had served as a councillor since 2011.

Since then Ndlovu has filled Denysschen’s shoes. “Under these circumstances, it is sad but I am honoured to take the place of Ken who has worked with the community,” he said, adding he will do his best to fulfil residents’ needs with the help of colleagues from the council and the DA.

“We need to push the needs of locals in both rural areas and in the town. Roads are so terrible to the point that only some vehicles can drive in those areas,” he said.

Ndlovu said residents’ basic needs should be addressed also. “Simple things like water are unavailable to some of the residents who previously had access to water, but due to bad workmanship, pipes were damaged and have not been replaced yet,” he said.
