Mr Gay PMB makes top 10 for Mr Gay SA finals

THE Pietermaritzburg Gay & Lesbian Network will for the first time have one of their own representing the city in this year’s Mr Gay SA finals.

On July 27, Pierre Buckley was announced as Mr PMB and he has now been selected in the top 10 for the Mr Gay SA finals.

Buckley participated in the Mr Gay SA regionals in Durban recently and made it to the top two. After all regional competitions had been held countrywide, the top 10 were then selected.

Buckley said, “I am humbled to reach this far and would like to thank the Gay & Lesbian Network and all my supporters for all their support. I am looking forward to participating in Mr Gay SA and excited with the experience so far and hope to do my best.”

Buckley will be flying to Johannesburg on Friday to be part of the Mr Gay SA event at the JHB Pride and other events to promote the Mr Gay SA finals.

Anthony Waldhausen, director of Gay & Lesbian Network, said they were “very proud of Pierre’s achievement”. He said it was “very significant as it will put Pietermaritzburg on the map”.

He said they will be supporting Buckley all the way and that the Mr Gay SA organisers will be announcing voting procedures soon to the public.

Waldhausen said they call on all in KwaZulu-Natal to vote for Buckley.

Buckley will also be participating in the PMB’s Got Talent contest in the singing category on October 26.

Waldhausen added that they will be hosting the Pink Mynah festival from December 9 to 14 in Pietermaritzburg and they will be providing Buckley with flyers to market the festival while he is in Johannesburg from Friday as part of the Mr Gay SA event at JHB Pride this weekend.

The winner of the Mr Gay SA will represent South Africa at the Mr Gay World in 2014.
