Msunduzi: ‘hordes’ more officials to be suspended

2010-08-27 00:00

ELEVEN people are currently under suspension at Msunduzi Municipality, and another one has been fired.

“Lying in the wings are hordes of others,” City Administrator Johann Mettler told Exco yesterday.

“Did you say hordes?” DA councillor Bill Lambert asked.

The administrator affirmed this spelling out h-o-r-d-e-s.

To which Lambert replied, “That’s scary in itself”.

Reporting on the suspensions, Mettler said he is being frugal with the information at this stage because of labour relations issues in some instances and because investigations are under ay in others.

The suspensions revolve around allegations of misconduct, abuse of council vehicles, gross insubordination and gross dishonesty. — Witness Reporter.
