Municipality offering Diwali bash R65?000 in services

2013-10-11 00:00

THE services that the Msunduzi Municipality is offering to the city’s annual Diwali bash, which takes place this weekend, amount to a cost of R65 000.

At last week’s Executive Committee, Mayor Chris Ndlela asked his officials to review the accuracy of the costing when one of them estimated R26 000 as the cost of the services offered. He felt this estimate was too low.

The R65 000 was reflected in the minutes at yesterday’s Exco meeting. The Witness had reported that in terms of council’s approved events policy, the municipality did not provide financial support for religious events. The support that will be offered includes traffic management services, cleaning, provision of Msunduzi security, posters and logistics.
