2012-10-31 00:00

THE family of a 68-year-old man from kwaMnyandu in the Vulindlela area are shocked after he was allegedly killed by his son following a family dispute.

His daughter, Thando Ngubane told The Witness yesterday that her mother was anguished.

Police yesterday confirmed that Skhwebu Allan Ngubane was shot in the head.

“My brother had a fight with one cousin who is 16 years old and he slapped him with an open hand. My father intervened and then we all went to bed,” said Ngubane. “I was then woken up by a gunshot from outside the house.”

Police spokesperson Lieutenant Joey Jeevan said Skhwebu Ngubane was woken by the smell of gas in the house. He went to investigate and found that a gas cylinder had been turned on.

“It is alleged that while turning off the gas he was approached by his son (31), who shot him once in the head and fled the scene.”

Police has asked anyone with information on the whereabouts of the son to contact Captain Musa Ntombela from Plessislaer Detectives on 033 393 9754 or 028 557 9226.
