A 30-YEAR-OLD man charged with the murder of a six-year-old girl told a Pietermaritzburg magistrate yesterday he is suffering from nightmares and has no clean clothes to wear while in custody.

Kwanele Ndlovu, accused of killing Yoliswa Ludidi at Smero location, told the court during a brief appearance he has nightmares that make it difficult to sleep and he wants to go home.

He also complained that he had been wearing the same clothes since his arrest in June. Magistrate Ntsoaki Ndawonde said his family could visit him with clean clothing.

Yoliswa was the granddaughter of MPL Zanele Ludidi, chairperson of the conservation and environmental affairs portfolio committee. She was reported missing by her family on June 24.

A search was conducted by the community and her body was found in a bush near her home later that day. Ndlovu allegedly offered to accompany Yoliswa, a Grade 1 pupil at Sigodini Primary School, to the bush to relieve herself, but she never returned. Ndlovu will be back in court on September 4.
