Mystery hum: city in the dark

2010-07-29 00:00

SOME local residents are set to face a power outage tomorrow as the Msunduzi Municipality needs to investigate a disturbing noise from one of its substations. From 10 pm until 4 am, residents in Blackridge, Boughton, Payipini, the female prisons, Clarendon, Wembley, Montrose and the northern parts of the city along the Victoria Road side are asked to make alternate arrangements.

The planning manager in the electricity department, Maxwell Mthembu, said the transformer, which is still new and under warranty, has been giving problems so the shutdown will give the supplier, Actom, an opportunity to investigate the problem at no cost to the municipality.
