NFP leader recovering

2014-11-22 00:00

NATIONAL Freedom Party president Zanele Magwaza-Msibi is recovering well in a Durban hospital after an operation to her vital organs this week.

Sources close to the leader told Weekend Witness that the operation was a success and Magwaza-Msibi should be transferred from ICU to an ordinary ward soon.

The Witness reported this week that the deputy minister of Science and Technology suffered a stroke in her Ulundi home on Sunday. Several sources told The Witness that Magwaza-Msibi (52) collapsed while getting dressed.

But the Msibi family denied that she had suffered a stroke. A statement issued by her office said she had been hospitalised after her family advised her to rest.

Yesterday, Durban daily Isolezwe reported that the leader had undergone surgery. It also reported that Magwaza-Msibi’s daughter, Gugu Gumede, had been hospitalised following the news of her mother’s condition.

Magwaza-Msibi’s spokesperson Canaan Mdletshe confirmed that her condition had improved, “She has improved dramatically. She is doing well.”

Mdletshe said reports of Gumede being hospitalised were false.
