New KZN deputy police head

2010-10-08 00:00

KWAZULU-NATAL has a new deputy provincial commissioner for policing, Major-General Khombinkosi Jula. The post was left vacant after Major-General S. F. Masemola was appointed as a divisional commissioner in Pretoria.

Jula joined the South African Police Force in 1987 and worked at Durban Central for 10 years as a junior member. He was promoted to Isipingo SAPF as a station commander, holding the rank of senior superintendent (colonel) from 2001 until 2005 when he was promoted again to the rank of director (brigadier). He held the position of station commander at Newcastle SAPF for four years before he was transferred to the Ulundi Cluster Office as acting cluster commander.

He led the cluster of Ulundi, which consists of 10 police stations, from November 2009 to June 2010 when he was promoted to major-general.

Jula holds a B-Tech degree in policing from Technikon South Africa.

Brigadier Phindile Radebe, provincial police spokesperson, said Jula is well known in policing circles “for efficiency and effectiveness in the field of crime prevention and crime reduction, a trademark that he has displayed in every area he has ventured into”.
