New employer service for city

2007-12-12 00:00

The National Organisation For Employers in South Africa (Nofesa), whose doors officially opened last week, will provide professional services to employers, with special emphasis placed on those in the local business community.

“We believe this is the first employer’s organisation to have its head office in Pietermaritzburg and we are proud to be associated with the City of Choice,” said Dennis Rajah, the organisation’s director.

He said they offer a variety of core services, which range from assisting businesses with legal compliance in labour legislation and labour law to helping their members with payroll administration, training and development and employment equity reports, amongst other things.

David Gengan, the Acting Strategic Executive manager of Economic Development and Growth in the city, said the services offered by Nofesa were much needed and would be of great value for local businesses in the city.

“I think it is great. It is a new brand of business, the first of its kind. It will offer complete services through their one-stop-services and human resource functions they offer,” he said.

The CEO of the Pietermaritzburg Business Chamber, Andrew Layman, preferred not to comment on the new organisation as he had not attended the launch, he said.
