New films opening in PMB

2010-10-08 00:00

OPENING in Pietermaritzburg today are the films Eat Pray Love, starring Julia Roberts and Javier Bardem, and Tell-Tale, a modern day retelling of The Tell Tale Heart from the original master of suspense, Edgar Allen Poe.

In Eat Pray Love, Roberts plays Liz Gilbert, a woman who seems to have everything — a husband, a house, a successful career — but like so many others, she feels lost, confused, and is searching for what she really wants in life.

Newly divorced and at a crossroads, Liz embarks on a journey around the world, discovering the true pleasure of eating in Italy; the power of prayer in India, and, finally the inner peace and balance of true love in Bali.

Tell-Tale is produced by Ridley and Tony Scott, and marks a return to their early genre films such as The Hunger and Alien. The film tells the story of Terry, a hardworking single father who is just trying to make ends meet while taking care of his ten-year-old daughter, Angela, who suffers from a rare disease. To complicate matters further, he is recovering from a heart transplant.

The only problem is that his new heart has come from a donor who died in a botched robbery and Terry finds himself driven to solve the mystery of who murdered him. It’s a search which not only threatens his own life, but also the lives of those he holds most dear.
