New mall hotel on target for March 2010

2009-09-02 00:00

THE Stay Easy Hotel at the Midlands Liberty Mall is well on schedule to officially open its doors in March, in time for the 2010 World Cup.

The R100 million hotel is being developed by Liberty Development on behalf of the Liberty Group, the owners, and will be managed by Southern Sun under the Stay Easy brand.

“We are over the moon with the progress and manner in which the project is being managed,” said Thea Marx, general manager of Liberty Property coastal regions.

Monday marked the official roof wetting ceremony for the hotel, which forms part of the future mixed-use development node that Liberty Property has embarked on.

It is the first phase of what is expected to be a variety of other lifestyle developments within the complex.

The three-storey hotel occupies a total of 4 500 square metres. It will have 128 rooms, conference and business facilities and a swimming pool.

It was designed by the same architects, Bentel and Associates International, who designed Liberty Mall, said Marx.

Construction started in February this year and Marx said February next year is set for their handing over ceremony to Southern Sun.
