JOHANNESBURG — The nominations for the position of president of the South African Football Association (Safa), which will be decided at the upcoming Safa elections, are due this week.

According to the Sport Industry website, the elections will be held during Safa’s general meeting in Johannesburg on September 28, with nominations for the role of president required 30 days before.

Nominations for the role of vice-president and positions on the national executive committee will not be required until mid-September.

KPMG will oversee the process and an Independent Electoral Commission will conduct the poll. The incumbent president Kirsten Nematandani is the only candidate who has publicly stated his interest, however, several others are considered likely to run, including PSL chairperson Irvin Khoza and Danny Jordaan.
