North Coast college to stage first talent show

APPLEBOSCH College in

Umshwathini will have its first talent search contest

tomorrow.

Local reggae sensation Roberto Tomento, poet Timothy “The Inspirator” Maphumulo and other artists are expected to perform.

Said Mazisi Ostrich, general-secretary of the North Coast FET College: “We are recognising an opportunity to put Appelsbosch on the map. This will be done by showcasing the community and the college’s talent, the culture that keeps us together and a drive to keep going forward fighting poverty and loss of tradition and culture.”

The college has been closed for more than 15 years and was previously a teacher training college.

Guests from all eight coastal campuses across the province and some government officials have been invited to the event.

Twenty-three contestants will perform and there are gift hampers to be won.

Up-and-coming kwaito artist Thina “Unkelicious” Masemola will be the MC at and will perform three tracks.

Said Ostrich: “We are creating awareness that today’s youth and communities must not give up on their talent and culture.

“This will create a platform for people to showcase their talent to the nation. Your support, consideration and assistance would be very much appreciated.”
