One dead, two hurt in N2 pile-up

2011-08-25 00:00

A MAN was killed and two other people were injured in an accident involving two cars and two trucks on the N2 in Durban yesterday, paramedics said.

Netcare 911 spokesperson Chris Botha said the man died at the scene and two people in the trucks suffered serious injuries. The N2 near the old Durban airport was closed to traffic, he said.

The driver of one of the trucks was found seated on the embankment complaining of back pain. The driver of one of the cars was found at the roadside. She was helped by members of public before emergency personnel arrived.

In the Umbumbulu area a woman was seriously injured when her car rolled on a gravel road yesterday afternoon. Due to the road conditions and the closure of the N2, the Netcare 3 helicopter airlifted the patient to the Netcare St Augustine’s hospital.
