Oscar: 'gobsmacked' at award

2011-11-19 00:00

OSCAR Pistorius, the South African sprint runner also known as the “Blade Runner” and “the fastest man on no legs”, was voted as the winner of the magazine heat’s Hot 100 yesterday.

This follows another fashion accolade: recently he was also voted the most stylish man in South Africa after being named as GQ’s Best Dressed Man for 2011.

Channel 24 quoted Pistorius as saying after his win: “It’s really cool! It caught me totally off-guard and I was really surprised.

“It’s an honour as I regard heat to be an amazing magazine. If I had one word to describe my reaction, I’d say gobsmacked!”

Pistorius believes that winning the heat Hot 100 title will have a positive impact on his life and career.

“It definitely adds more weight to the different projects I’m involved in. It also gives me more credibility when it comes to my involvement in charitable causes.”
