THE newly formed National Freedom Party will hold its inaugural conference, scheduled for December, in Pietermaritzburg or Durban.

NFP national organiser Bonga Nzuza confirmed that plans to hold the NFP’s national elective conference are almost complete and two venues — one in Pietermaritzburg and another in Durban — have been shortlisted.

Nzuza said the party is looking for a venue for 5 000 people and accommodation facilities “as we expect between 2 700 and 4 000 delegates at the conference”.

It is believed that the University of KwaZulu-Natal campuses could host the conference.

Nzuza said it is all systems go for the national elections following the launch of branches in eight provinces across the country. He said only the Northern Cape does not have a branch.

“We are now busy with elections at constituency level and from there we will go to district level.

“By October 30 all district election will have been completed and in November we will hold the national policy and constitutional conference, which will precede the national elective conference,” Nzuza said.
