PSL names new CEO

2013-06-21 00:00

THE PSL announced yesterday that charted accountant Brand de Villiers will take over as the league’s CEO starting from July 2.

De Villiers will take over the reins from PSL COO Cambridge Mokanyane, who had been occupying the vacant CEO position in an acting capacity.

The announcement was made at a press conference in Johannesburg yesterday that formed part of the draw of fixtures for the upcoming 2013/14 PSL season, which is set to get under way in the first week of August.

Formerly at companies such as Vodacom and SAIL, De Villiers expressed his delight at the appointment.

“I am very excited to be joining one of the finest leagues in the world and am looking very forward to it,” he said.

Irvin Khoza was equally buoyed by the announcement. “He has a wealth of experience gained from the corporate world and has good understanding of the sports industry,” said Khoza of De Villiers. “We look forward to a good relationship with him and are confident that his experience will benefit our business.”

Khoza further expressed his desire to see the PSL grow under De Villiers’s leadership.
