Parade to remember murdered Juran Raman, demand justice

2011-08-29 00:00

FRIENDS and family of Juran Lorenzo Raman (20), who was killed at the popular club Vacca Matta at the Golden Horse in March, are still struggling to come to terms with his untimely death.

He was partying with friends when he was allegly stabbed with broken glass. Sherwin Cara (20) is standing trial for the murder.

On Saturday, friends and family embarked on a commemorative parade with at least 14 cars from his home in Northdale to the Golden Horse casino. They however did not enter the Vacca Matta premises.

The cars were plastered with pictures of Raman and messages calling for justice.

His father, John, said since his son died he has been struggling, with each day getting worse.

“Ever since he died, it has not got easier [to come to terms with his death]. To see such potential and talent going away so early is extremely painful.”

Raman was a talented cricketer.

“We have decided to engage in this parade as a remembrance to him and to show people that we have not forgotten about him and we are seeking justice for him,” the father said.

“What happened was painful and the person who did this should be locked up,” said John.
