Parlotones to perform in the midlands

2009-07-24 00:00

MRJ Events has scooped a big accolade for the midlands next weekend on August 1 when South African rock band The Parlotones perform at Pecanwood.

The Parlotones started dominating the South African music scene in 2007, with two albums, the Sama-winning Radicontrolledrobot and their latest release A World Next Door To Yours, going gold simultaneously. The band has since performed to sold-out venues across South Africa, sharing the stage with top international acts over the past two years. Interest from various territories outside of South Africa has grown as The Parlotones have regularly toured the UK.

Tickets for the show are R85 pre-booked from Computicket and R100 at the door. VIP tickets are sold out, but there are still normal tickets available.

There will be an assortment of food stands, ranging from pancakes, boerewors rolls, soup, curry and chicken dishes. There is a cash bar with drink specials all night, as well as hot drinks (hot chocolate, milo) available. Bon-fires and gas heaters will keep the midlands chill at bay.

The rugby will be screened at 5 pm. Line-up of bands: Red light stereo — 4pm; Ocean Drive — 5pm; Small Town Heroes — 6pm; Catlike Thieves — 7pm; The Parlotones — 8pm. For more information, phone 083 790 2801.
