2011-05-31 00:00

PAUL Roos again proved their dominance of schools’ tennis in South Africa by winning the 16th annual Invitation Festival at Kearsney College over the weekend. In February they also gave a superb display of skill and strength, to win their own tennis festival.

It is the eighth time in 10 years that Paul Roos, from Stellenbosch, have won the festival. Their clinical domination left the remaining teams to play for second position.

Kearsney’s three-day tournament ended on Sunday with another strong tennis outfit, Affies from Pretoria, coming second. In the

final, Paul Roos thumped Affies and did not drop a match in the tie. Earlier in the semi-finals, Paul Roos easily beat St Stithians from Johannesburg and the Affies boys played above themselves to beat Glenwood by five matches to one.

The remaining positions were taken by Clifton, Kearsney, Grey College and Selborne College.
