Pedestrians run over twice

2011-10-31 00:00

FOUR people died and 13 others were injured in accidents in KwaZulu-Natal at the weekend.

Two pedestrians were killed and one seriously injured after they were knocked over by a taxi near Dalton on Friday. ER 24 spokesperson Derrick Banks said that after the pedestrians had been knocked over by the taxi, a sugar cane truck allegedly drove over them.

A motorist was seriously injured after losing control of his vehicle between Church Street and the Liberty Midlands Mall in Pietermaritzburg on Saturday. Banks said poor visibility in misty conditions may have been a cause.

One person died and another was seriously injured when their vehicle slammed into the back of a stationery construction truck near the M4 Broadway off-ramp in Durban.

A head-on collision between two bakkies near Mooi River yesterday afternoon left one person dead and six others injured.
