Phone bill mars Mandoza magic

2007-12-18 00:00

Singing star Mandoza yesterday left the city after playing at the Fantasia concert on Sunday night, but allegedly left his phone bill at the hotel he was staying at unpaid.

Brian Zuma, of marketing at the Msunduzi Municipality, told The Witness that Mandoza had told the hotel that Msunduzi would pick up the tab for the R85,00 phone bill. “But when they called me I told them that was not in our agreement at all,” said Zuma.

“We arranged for him to come to the Fantasia Concert to perform and agreed to pay his transport, accommodation and meals. The phone bill was for his own account and we are not paying it.”

When contacted by The Witness yesterday, the hotel declined to comment on the matter. The Witness was unable to reach Mandoza for comment and messages left on the cellphone of one of his entourage were not returned.
