Pirates: Moeneeb Josephs ends six-month lay-off

2011-05-26 00:00

ORLANDO Pirates goalkeeper Moeneeb Josephs has said he is happy to return to training after almost six months on the sidelines due to shoulder injury.

Josephs rejoined his team-mates in training on Tuesday.

He told the club’s website, “I am recovering very well and it feels good to be back at training after some time on the sidelines.”

“I am making a good progress … there’s a good movement in my shoulder and fortunately there is no discomfort. It’s still early days, though. I have started with light exercises and we will see how it goes from here as far as returning to action is concerned,” added Josephs.

Speaking on the team’s league title success, the Bafana Bafana player still finds it hard to contain his happiness and praised his team-mates for showing real character.

“I couldn’t believe it. The atmosphere was overwhelming and very emotional … I even cried,” admitted the former Cape Town Spurs player.

“I am very proud of my teammates. It’s been a difficult journey but they never cracked … instead, they showed real character, hence their success,” he said.

“These are good times for the club, but most importantly for our supporters who have been behind us all the way,” added the Mitchell’s Plain-born star.
