‘Pirates must treat Tunisia as a cup final’

JOHANNESBURG — Orlando Pirates left for Tunisia yesterday to prepare for their Caf Champions League clash against Esperance over the weekend.

According to the club’s website, head coach Roger de Sa has called on his charges to be well-prepared for the battle and treat it as a cup final.

The two sides will clash in the second leg semi-final in what promises to be a cracker between the two sides as they battle it out for a berth in the final.

Orlando Pirates will go into that encounter conscious that they will have to win or a score draw if they are to qualify for the next round of the competition.

De Sa said that although he is confident that his players will be well motivated to get a result away from home, playing in Tunisia will be tough and they will need to be well prepared.

“The guys know what to expect in Tunisia … We have had it worse in this tournament and I do not think whatever may happen in that match or during our stay in Tunisia will shock the guys,” he said.

“For this match, we will have to be really well prepared psychologically because the home fans won’t make it easy on us. In fact, we need to prepare ourselves as if this is already a final. We expect the home side to throw everything at us and push for a win, but they know we can equally cause problems and that should be an interesting match to watch,” said De Sa.
