Pistorius ‘very sorry’ after confrontation at nightclub

2014-07-16 00:00

WHILE Oscar Pistorius is “very sorry”, Jared Mortimer is being pestered by the media.

Newspapers reported yesterday how Mortimer and Pistorius pushed each other at an exclusive Sandton nightclub, The VIP Room, on Saturday night.

The club, which can only take 280 people, was hosting a superhero costume party.

One of the women at the party was Gina Myers, a close friend of the late Reeva Steenkamp who was shot by Pistorius.

Myers can be seen partying in a Catwoman suit in the club’s photos.

Mortimer alleged Pistorius was drunk and threatening when he poked Mortimer in the chest. “That was when I shoved him against his chest and he fell,” Mortimer told Beeld.

Both men were allegedly boasting about their close ties with the family of President Jacob Zuma.

EWN has meanwhile reported that Mortimer is the owner of the Affliction clothing range and that he had been a police reservist for many years.

While social media buzzed about the incident, spokesperson for Pistorius Annelise Burgess told News24 the athlete was very sorry that he had been at The VIP Room.

Pistorius’s tweets from last week showed charity photos and Bible verses.

On its website, The VIP Room describes itself as “the most ostentatious venue in Jo’burg” and states it caters “for the nouveau riche”.
