JOHANNESBURG — Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Pitso Mosimane has been charged for bringing the PSL and its sponsors into disrepute following a verbal attack on a referee earlier this season.

According to the Soccer-Laduma website, the outspoken mentor was not happy with the officiating of Kulasande Qongqo in their Nedbank Cup Last 32 fixture against Ajax Cape Town on February 21, which they eventually won to progress to the next stage of the competition.

“Jingles” appeared before the PSL Disciplinary Committee earlier this week, and was fined R60 000.

Meanwhile, the club was fined R30 000 for the coach’s comments, although it was suspended in total for a period of 12 months.

A PSL statement further revealed, “In addition, Mosimane was ordered to address a letter of apology to the match official involved as well as the League. Both parties were ordered to pay the costs of the sitting.”
