TODAY

• 11 am. Opening the closet — the Gay and Lesbian Network hosts a discussion forum on Human Rights Day. The focus is for gays and lesbians to discuss and share their experiences of coming-out and to help those who are not open about their sexuality. Venue: Tembaletu Community Center, 206 Burger Street. TOMORROW

• 6 am-9.30 am. The farmers’ market every Saturday, selling fruit, veg, flowers, eggs and more. Inquiries: Mike at 082 886 0687.

• 7 am to 11 am. The Karkloof farmers’ market, a fresh produce market, is located 2,6 km from Howick on the Karkloof Road. Access is from the D507. As well as local fresh produce goods on sale include breads, biscotti, cheese, flowers and ready-made meals. There is a jungle gym and pony rides for the children. • 2 pm. The Ramblers’ Club of Pietermaritzburg invites you to join them in walking the hills of Pietermaritzburg. Inquiries: Francois at 033 344 2754.

SUNDAY

• 8.30 am. The Umgeni steam railway preservation group will run a special Easter Inchanga Choo-Choo — a vintage passenger train — on Sunday and Monday. Trains depart from Kloof at 8.30 am and 12.30 pm and travel through the Valley of a Thousand Hills to Inchanga. The Inchanga Community Craft Market will be at the station. Passengers can also travel from Inchanga (departure: 10.30 am) to Kloof and return. The Easter bunny will be making a special visit on Sunday to hand out Easter eggs. • 9.30 am. Mountain View entertainment centre is open and will be having an Easter egg hunt, which starts at 2 pm, followed by a magician show. Entertainment by Steady Eddie. TUESDAY

• 7.30 am to 4 pm. Running until March 28 is the childrens’ holiday camp at the YMCA, Pietermaritzburg. The NGO that runs the camp is raising funds to start a development plan for street children. The sport camp takes place daily from 7.30 am until 4 pm. Cost is R30 per child per day — featuring jumping castles, sport, games, quiet time and food which will be provided for the children. WEDNESDAY
