Police still searching for clues into double murder

POLICE are still searching for the person or persons responsible for the abduction and murders of a Pinetown police student and a woman who had been travelling with him.

The body of student constable Xolani Kwela (26) was found dumped alongside that of Sindisiwe Ngcobo (25) on the side of the road between Greytown and Dundee roads in Greytown on Wednesday, July 10.

The two had been shot several times.

Police spokesperson Captain Thulani Zwane said Kwela and Ngcobo were believed to have been kidnapped from kwaNdengezi near Pinetown last Wednesday.

“Xolani Kwela was driving a taxi owned by the family in the kwaNdengezi area on July 8 and he never returned home. After Kwela failed to return, his relatives reported him missing and opened a case of kidnapping at the kwaNdengezi police station,” said Zwane.

Police said they were not certain of the association between Kwela and Ngcobo.

Zwane said Kwela’s taxi was found the next day at Juba Road in the kwaNdengezi area.

He said the motive for the abduction and murders was unknown.
