Presenter hunt: Vote for Lunga Shabalala

2011-04-28 00:00

DURBAN’S Lunga Shabalala has made it into the final of the Selimathunzi talent search and now goes head-to-head with Lawrence Maleka of Gauteng for the chance to become a presenter on the popular SABC1 show.

Well over 10 000 votes were cast for the top five contestants, who included Pietermaritzburg’s Lungelo Sithole.

“We are confident that the youth will continue to express their interest ... by SMS-ing their preferences,” says Vukile Madlala, SABC1’s publicity manager.

To support Shabalala, simply SMS the words “SELI 4” to 33725. Votes are limited to 20 SMSes per cellphone. Free SMSes do not apply. The charge is R1,50 per SMS.

The voting lines will remain open until midnight on Monday, May 2, with the winner being announced on Wednesday, May 4, during Selimathunzi, which is broadcast at 6.30 pm. One lucky viewer stands a chance to win R10 000 just by casting their vote. – Arts Editor.
