Prime SA bands visit KZN

2010-01-15 00:00

SOUTH African rock fans are in for a treat when two of the country’s biggest bands — Watershed and Prime Circle — take to the stage at the Barnyard Theatre at Gateway this month.

After numerous sold-out performances at the Umhlanga venue, Watershed is returning to The Barnyard Theatre for two shows only on January 19 and 20.

The band consists of lead singer, Craig Hinds, who also plays piano, acoustic guitar and harmonica, Nic Rush on lead guitar and vocals, Hylton Brooker on keyboards, Peter Auret on drums, and James Sunney on bass guitar and vocals.

Watershed’s latest album, Staring At The Ceiling, was released in August 2008 and has already reached gold status in South Africa. Fans attending the concert can expect to hear songs such as Indigo Girl, Letters, Close My Eyes, In The Meantime, Yesterday Again, Live Another Day, and many more.

Watershed’s shows will be followed by two performances by Prime Circle on January 22 and 23.

Considered by many to be South Africa’s premier rock band, Prime Circle consists of Ross Learmonth on vocals and rhythm guitar, Dale Schnettler on drums, Dirk Bisschoff on guitar and vocals, Neil Breytenbach on keyboards and Marco Gomes on bass guitar.

The band’s third album, All Or Nothing, has just gone platinum and fans attending the Barnyard concerts can look forward to hearing hits such as Out Of This Place, She Always Gets What, Consider Me, Hello, My Inspiration, Same Goes For You, Let Me Go, Crazy World, As Long As I Am Here, Maybe Wrong, Live This Life and Miracle.

Audience members can also meet the band in the bar after the show to buy paraphernalia and get autographs.

Tickets are R140 and seating will be as for normal shows, with no standing room.

To book, phone The Barnyard Theatre at 031 566 3045.
