Princess Charlene is expecting twins

2014-06-09 00:00

LYNETTE Wittstock, the mother of princess Charlene of Monaco, had been wondering when the next set of twins would be born to the family.

Wittstock said both she and Charlene’s father had twins in their generations, meaning her daughter was very likely to have twins as well.

News that the Monaco royal household is expecting twins was initially revealed by Carte Blanche presenter Derek Watts, who tweeted that Princess Charlene of Monaco is expecting twins.

Watts, who quickly removed the tweet, had written in his tweet that Princess Charlene’s father, Mike Wittstock, an old friend since their school days in Zimbabwe, had told him in a phone call about the good news, reported Hello magazine .

Wittstock told sister paper Beeld last night the secret was now in the open and everyone knew about it.

“We are very excited,” she said about the prospect of a third and fourth grandchild. It is not yet known what sex the twins will be.

The princess is a first-time mom, but the twins will be Prince Albert’s third and fourth children. The babies are expected in December.
