Quick: CCTV plays part in arrest

2008-12-22 00:00

POLICE in Pietermaritzburg reacted quickly to CCTV footage and arrested two robbers in the city centre on Sunday. But they are now battling to trace the victim of the robberies.

Safe City cameras captured four men robbing another man outside Siyaya Cash and Carry in Pietermaritz Street on Sunday at about 4.30 pm. The dog unit arrested two men, while the other two managed to escape.

Safe City general manager Lucas Holtzhausen said although police managed to establish that the victim was robbed of clothes and shoes to the value of R600, they cannot trace him.

Now Holtzhausen is appealing to the victim, or anyone who might know the victim of that robbery, to contact Inspector Frans Bezuidenhout at 033 845 2425. — Witness Reporter.
