Raelin's Mom is recovering

2009-04-02 00:00

Doctors have assured the family of Pradantha Devarain that she is well on her way to recovery, but have also cautioned that they are not yet sure what long-term damage she may have suffered.

Since the murder of her six-year-old son and the brutal attack on her, the Northdale resident has been in a medically induced coma, as doctors felt it was the safest way for her to recover.

According to her brother, Nirdesh Bhikshu, she’s been “in and out of her coma … and when she does wake up, she is very disorientated”.

Bhikshu said his sister is not aware that her son was murdered.

“We haven’t told her, we can’t. The doctors and psychologists will do so when she is ready,” he said.

“Doctors say it’s too early to tell whether there is any definite long-term damage or not, but they have assured us that she is on the right road to recovery.”

Bhikshu said he last visited her and consulted with her doctors yesterday morning. “Not a day goes by without us as her family going to visit her,” he said.
