Rain causes late start, but KZN teams do well against outside opposition

OVERNIGHT rain and dark clouds in the morning, caused a late start in the games in the capital but three of the four matches at the College Festival and five of the six matches at the Alex Festival were played. At Michaelhouse all four matches took place.

After being 56 for seven, College tail wagged and they were all out for 130 in the 37th over of a 40 over game against St Davids. The main contribution being a 47 run ninth wicket partnership between Daryn Dupavillon and Shaun Sinclair. They then bowled St Davids out for 109 with Reagan Smith taking four wickets.

Clifton and Glenwood, the latter in a T20 match had easy wins against Helpmekaar, and Trinityhouse.

T he bowlers generally had the better of the day at Michaelhouse in the four declaration games. M Delport took seven wickets for Hilton against Peterhouse and L Theron took six wickets for Bishops against Michaelhouse.

Mark Airey from Kearsney captured five wickets in their win against St Johns from Harari. Centuries continued on the second day of the Alex week, another two by Travis Timm and Etian van Zuydam from Treverton and a third by Gareth Gardner from Howick. The other highlight was a five-wicket haul by Tyron Arnell also from Treverton.
