Raped for 8 hours

A MOUNTAIN Rise teenager endured a night of terror when she was savagely gang-raped and beaten by two men for eight hours.

In the wake of her attack, police tracked down two men who may be linked to the brutal assault.

A police source, close to the investigation who asked not to be named, said that the onslaught of rape and physical abuse continued for eight hours until sunrise.

According to the source, the victim was abducted from her home by her attackers who live in the Haniville area near Copesville.

“The circumstances under which she was taken remain a little unclear but from what we know she was kidnapped by two men at around 10 pm on Saturday. They gang raped her from then until 6 am,” he said.

The victim managed to escape from her attackers and flee. She later reported the matter to the police.

“They beat her really badly. Her face was swollen and she could barely open her eyes and they also mutilated her private parts. We think that she managed to escape and ran away only to arrive later at the Mountain Rise police station.”

The source said that information from the battered woman had helped identify one of her attackers.

“Information led to the a suspect being found in Haniville inside a house.”

Police spokesperson Major Thulani Zwane confirmed that two men broke down the door of her home at around 10 pm on Saturday evening.

“They assaulted her and gang raped her before fleeing the scene with her money,” Zwane said.

In a joint operation with Mountain Rise SAPS and the K9 unit which started on Sunday morning, one suspect was arrested in the Haniville area near Copesville hours later with one man still at large.

The victim was taken to hospital where she is undergoing medical treatment for her injuries.
