KNOWLEDGE is power.

And gaining knowledge through reading newspapers, books and watching the news has helped four pupils from Durban High School take top honours in the national World Knowledge Olympiad.

Lungelo Mkhize, a Grade 9 pupil, who was placed first in KZN and second in South Africa said, “I was absolutely dumbfounded when I heard the news.”

Andrew Elliott, who was placed top in KZN for Grade 10 said he read newspapers and watched news to better his general knowledge. “It was pretty cool,” Elliott said.

DHS’s head of marketing Barry Coskey said the school was proud of the boys’ achievements.
