Recognition for clean audits

2013-09-27 00:00

ETHEKWINI Metro, in conjunction with the Institute of Municipal Finance Officers (IMFO) will host an award-giving ceremony for chief financial officers of nine municipalities for obtaining clean audits.

The event on Tuesday is organised by the IMFO, a non-profit organisation that seeks to award and encourage local government finance officers.

The institute, established in 1929, also provides advice to national treasury and the South African Local Government Association, spokesperson Hlengiwe Makalima said in a statement.

“Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs Minister Lechesa Tshenoli will hand over the IMFO Clean Audit Awards. CFOs of six of the nine municipalities are our members and we are proud that they continue to play a pivotal role in local government,” said Makalima.

The award ceremony is held annually to honour municipal CFOs who received clean audit reports.

eThekwini spokesperson Thabo Mofokeng confirmed the event, which will be held at the Durban City Hall.

He said the event will follow the 84th IMFO annual conference, which will be held at the Durban ICC on Monday, where Minister in the Presidency Collins Chabane will present the keynote address.
