Richards Bay: woman (42) missing

2013-01-04 00:00

A RICHARDS Bay woman, who became depressed after  the recent death of her daughter, disappeared without trace on Saturday evening.

Rina du Toit (42) was at a motor race with her husband, Meyer (52), at the Richards Bay Hotrod Club.

“At about 8 pm she told me she was going to the toilet,” said Meyer.

“And that was the last time I saw her.”

He said their daughter, Letisha (24), was killed in a motorbike crash two months ago.

“Since then Rina had been very depressed, but not so bad that she would just disappear,” he said.

The couple returned last week from a holiday in Mossel Bay.

Meyer said he searched the racecourse area from end to end on Saturday evening.

“But there was no trace of her. No one could remember seeing her.”

She was not carrying her cellphone at the time, because Meyer was using it to take photos.

“Nothing of hers is missing. No money has been withdrawn from her account,” he said.

Richards Bay police confimed that they had opened a missing person’s docket.

Anyone with information is asked to phone Meyer du Toit at 082 071 9424.
