THE 28th Amashova Durban Classic hits the road on Sunday and there are a number of road closures to take note of.

With three races, including the 106 km, 65 km half challenge and 35 km family fun ride, the organisers welcome spectators to come out and cheer riders on.

However, spectators should also be mindful and accommodating of the following road closures.

The 106 km race starts outside the Pietermaritzburg City Hall at 6.45 am.

The half challenge begins at Drew Road in Cato Ridge at 5.30 pm and the family fun ride starts outside the Lillies Quarter in Old Main Road, Hillcrest, at 5.30 am as well.

The first of the road closures begins at 4 am, but additional closures include:

• Chief Albert Luthuli Street to Alexandra Road: 4 am to 9.30 am;

• Alexandra Road to Umlaas Road: 5 am to 11.15 am; and

•  Umlaas Road to R103 Inchanga/1000 Hills: 4.30 am to 12.15 pm

Racers also need to take note of the following cut-off times.

The first cut-off is at Inchanga Caravan Park (45 km mark) at 12.15 pm.

The second cut-off is outside the Butchery on Botha’s Hill (60 km mark) at 1 pm.

The third cut-off is at Kassier Road before the on-ramp of the M13 (67 km mark) at 1.30 pm.

The fourth cut-off will be under the pedestrian bridge on the M13 (82 km mark) at 2 pm.

The fifth cut-off is at 45th Cutting under the bridge before the N3 off-ramp (91 km mark) at 2.30 pm.

The final cut-off is the finish line at Suncoast at 3 pm.
