Rugby: Coach Muir apologises to sharks

2008-05-18 00:00

The Sharks are the only South African team to reach the semi-finals of the Super 14, but coach Dick Muir apologised on Saturday for not making their job easier.

The Sharks beat the Chiefs 47-25 to overtake the Stormers and finish third, and last night they left for Sydney, where they meet the Waratahs on Saturday.

Muir said his conservative approach in the high humidity of the early season cost his side. "I should have shown the players more respect and allowed them to express themselves more," he said. "Now we are seeing what they really can do."
