Rugby festival: Eight schools play

2013-03-23 00:00

AFTER a busy period in the school’s rugby calendar, this weekend sees a quiet period, as the independent schools have begun a three-week Easter holiday and state schools enjoy the long weekend.

Felixton College is hosting its seventh annual rugby festival, which started on Wednesday and finishes today. Eight schools will be playing, and this includes both Howick and Wartburg from the Midlands, Clifton and Ashton from the Durban area, hosts Felixton and John Ross from Zululand, Beaulieu from Gauteng and Penryn from Mpumalanga.

Both Westville and Glenwood are making the best of the long weekend ahead of their participation in the Kearsney Festival over the Easter weekend (see the preview of the Kearsney and Maritzburg College 150th festivals next week). Westville has gone to the Eastern Cape, while Glenwood is in Potchefstroom at the Pukke School Festival, where they play three games against Garsfontein, HTS Drostdy and Framesby.

Westville lost 10-16 against Grey HighSchool at the Graeme College rugby day and Glenwood lost 26-48 against Garsfontein, both played on Thursday. George Campbell will be playing Pinetown on Tuesday next week.
