SA crew makes the quickest film

2013-05-16 00:00

A JOHANNESBURG film crew has shot a movie in less than 11 days, breaking the Guinness world record for the shortest time to make a full-length picture.

Tiffany Jones-Barbuzano, one of the producers of Shotgun Garfunkel, said pre-production began on May 1. The completed film was shown in Johannesburg on the evening of Saturday, May 11.

Jones-Barbuzano and a group of friends wanted to make “the worst film ever, but that’s been done to death”.

An Indian movie Sivappu Mazhai holds the record for the shortest shoot, at 11 days and 23 hours.

“We decided we could make a film in a shorter time,” she said.

Jones-Barbuzano, Asher Stolz, Bryan van Niekerk, Meren Reddy and Eduan van Jaarsveld are the producers, writers and actors. Jones-Barbuzano’s husband, Johnny Barbuzano, directed the film.

Starting at 9 am on May 1, they wrote the script in three days, shot the film in four days and edited it in the remaining time.

The comedy is about a group of friends who try, with mixed success, to recreate the best nights of their lives.
