Search is on for missing teacher

2013-07-24 00:00

THE family of a Msinga teacher are appealing to anyone with information on her whereabouts to come forward.

Bongiwe Caroline Majozi’s mother, Gotshana Majozi from Erna Road in Northdale, told The Witness that Bongiwe (40) left home on June 22 to attend a friend’s graduation.

“She left at about 1 pm … but never called us to tell how she went. At first we thought that maybe there was no network coverage at the area she was in, but then we became worried,” said Majozi.

“After seeing days’ passing, her nine-year-old daughter started panicking, saying ‘What if she did not reach her destination?’ She would have phoned from a public phone if there was a network problem.”

They reported the matter to police after they phoned the school to find out whether they knew anything about the graduation ceremony or where she was.

“The school was surprised that we didn’t know where she was. We have visited hospitals and mortuaries with no luck. We need help to find her.”

Bongiwe is a teacher at Msinga Secondary School in the Tugela Ferry area.

Police described her as chubby, approximately 1,5 m tall, of medium complexion and with medium-length black hair. She wears glasses and was last dressed in grey slacks. Anyone with information should call Detective Constable Nondumiso Mnc-wabe on 033 387 9684 or 076 808 8134.
